About St. Monica's Senior High, Mampong
St. Monica’s Senior High School is an all-girls’ second-cycle institution established in the year 1946 by the then Anglican Bishop of Accra and the entire Gold Coast, John Orfeur Aglionby. His vision was to make St. Monica Senior High School a Centre of moral and academic excellence with discipline as the hallmark. This vision was later ably supported and made manifest by the Sisters of the Order of the Holy Paraclete, Whitby, England. It was the first Girls’ Senior Secondary School in the Ashanti and the Northern Regions of Ghana. The school can be located on the Kumasi-Mampong Highway. It is 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Kumasi and lies on a hilly area thus the area is always cold. It is bounded on the north by the Ghana Highways Authority, Mampong; on the south by the Mampong Municipal Hospital; on the east by Mampong Babies' Home; and on the west by the Ejura-Mampong Highway.
