About Oti Boateng Senior High

Koforidua Senior High School has a rich and inspiring history. Its roots trace back to a time when many parents in the New Juaben Municipality had caught the "education fever" and were eager to send their children to middle school after completing primary education. The school initially existed as Nsukwao L.A. Primary School. In the late 1970s, with the introduction of the new educational system, there was a need for a Junior High School (JHS) in the local community of Ada, as prospective primary school graduates previously had to travel to town to further their education. The then Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II, appealed to the people of Ada for land to establish the school. A plot of land, belonging to the current ruling house of Ada, was generously donated free of charge to the government for the Junior Secondary School project. In 1987, as part of a nationwide educational reform programme, many junior secondary schools were upgraded to senior secondary status, and Koforidua Junior Secondary School was included. On 21st January 1991, with 25 students, Koforidua Secondary School (Ada) was officially opened. The first Headmaster, the late W. E. Gyekye, laid the foundational structures before handing over to Mr. A. B. Amoatey on 6th January 1992. Mr. Amoatey led the school for seven years before being transferred to Kwahu South as the District Director of Education.
